The career field I am most interested in is Radiology, but more specifically Nuclear Medicine. I first met with Colleen Hanna, who looked over my academic plan and made a few adjustments. She recommended I do not take anatomy and physiology in the same semester because it would be an overload of information; therefore, she said I should take anatomy in the spring and physiology in the summer. Another revision she recommended was to take Fundamentals of Health Care in the spring because it will help me figure out if the health field is really for me. To conclude our meeting, she advised me to go meet with Jera Roberts, who is the program director of Radiology. In my meeting with Professor Roberts, she agreed with the revisions that were made by Mrs. Hanna. On top of those revisions, she informed me that I needed to take another humanities class to get all my hours taken care of. Hanna was excellent. They obviously have more experience and knowledge with this type of thing; therefore, being able to meet with someone that can point me in the right direction was great. Both of these individuals answered all the questions I had in great detail. With these meetings, it helped me better understand my next few years here at Washburn University and the steps I need to take to succeed. Creating an academic plan I think is extremely beneficial to everyone because it gives you a step by step process of what needs to be done and what to expect. It can help you figure out if that career you are striving towards is really the career for you. Having a plan helps you keep track of your academic progress as well and gives you direction. If any problems may arise you will know ahead of time of what needs to be done to solve it. Lastly, if everything goes as planned, it could possibly help you find a job once you
