A firefighter, a veterinarian, a teacher. These are just a few of the answer’s you may hear when asking a young student what they would aspire to be when they grow up. But for me as a child, I was very uncertain as to what I desired to do with my life every day in my future. I could never put an exactly title on all of my hopes and dreams, but I was certain on one thing; I wanted to work in the medical field. In this paper, I will discuss the major events in my life that lead me to choosing a career path in the profession of nursing. I had considered becoming a radiology technician, because anatomy was my favorite subject in high school. I also considered occupational therapy, because I love the idea of encouraging others while helping them improve their physical and mental activity in their everyday life. During these times of decision making, none of these options never stuck out in my mind, but I stayed optimistic to medical careers that would fit me perfectly. Ever since I was younger, my mother has always told me I am a kind, caring, and compassionate girl who is great with people, and after my experiences I knew I wanted to help others in my everyday life. It was then that I took action and decided to apply for a job in the medical field. After going through the application and interview process, I had become a dietary aid in my hometown nursing home facility. The days flew by at my job, as I was able to help residents to and from their rooms while serving them with their needs, and also socializing with them when I had the chance. I enjoyed my job so much and I hope to return to my position after my freshman year of college, and I have also been considering advancing my title by becoming a certified nursing
