The main purpose of the graduation project is a way for students to in a sense be obligated to think of their future after high school and think of how they can apply their knowledge to have a successful career. Part of the graduation project was to partake in doing community service. Some of the community service I participated in throughout these 4 years was the cinco de mayo festival, mushroom festival and Kennett’s monster mash. In school I also volunteered in the library and helped Ms. Ceci in her classroom. Another part of the project was to create a Career Interest Profile which helped list some possible occupations that best suited myself. I found these results to be somewhat accurate to myself because I do consider myself to be social but not at all artistic or to focus on enterprising and businesses. A career that highly interests me is nursing. I believe this career is a good match for me because I scored high in social and nursing is an occupation that requires for someone to be very social. I chose nursing because I always knew I wanted a profession where I knew I was helping others and that is exactly what you do being a nurse. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook a registered nurse provides and coordinates patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. What exactly a registered nurse does exactly depends on where they work and the type of patients they work with. Though they all typically do the following, Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, administer patients’ medicines and treatments, set up plans for patients’ care or contribute to existing plans, observe patients and record the observations, consult and collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals, operate and monitor medical equipment, help perform diagnostic tests and analyze the results, teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries, and explain what to do at home after treatment. There are 3 ways to become a registered nurse, one is you may either receive a diploma from an approved nursing program, an associate’s degree (2 or 3 years) or a bachelor’s degree (4 years) in nursing. All registered nurses must also be licensed. In addition, employment predicts to grow 16% from 2014 to 2024. Now that I know that a registered nurse is what I want to become, I also now what my future educational plans are for after high
