I like the dynamics of being a part of a team. Working and communicating with other team members has been a great way to learn. I like to watch how others perform tasks and see how I can implement them into my own skills. I am now more of a team player with my family than a person who does everything for the family. Of course, a nursing career requires a team work. Being a part of a team is crucial in nursing in order to deliver a well-organized care for the patient.
My newly acquired knowledge, skills and abilities will definitely help me adjust as a new graduate practical nurse.
Quite frankly, my brain has trouble registering that I have almost finished with practical nursing program. So, it is even harder to start thinking of working as a graduate practical nurse soon. As soon as this sinks in I know I will start freaking out. When this happens I will remind myself of knowledge I have required over two years and to use it in my adjusting period.
I feel comfortable saying that I do not know the answer and asking for help from a more experienced nurse. So far, I have encountered many situations where I have asked for help and everyone was more than happy to give me a hand or share their knowledge. Knowing that nursing staff is more than happy to help is a big relief, because the first few months as a graduate practical nurse is going to be scary.
