A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their employees. The minimum wage was conceived around 1938 to help bolster wage workers and decrease class stratification. Throughout the history of California, the minimum wage has become a problem for both sides, the employees and employers. Employees believe that minimum wage should be raised. Raising the minimum wage allows people to be paid what they can live off of. This makes a more independent financial person without the aid of the government. This can create an equilibrium between living off your income and not being able to live off your income. Raising the minimum wage could possibly give workers the incentive to spend more, helping increase consumer demand.
