According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, getting your heart beating and moving benefits kids when they take a test. “After recess, for children or after a corresponding break time for adolescents, students are more attentive and better able to perform cognitively,” says AAP. They are saying that kids are more attentive and focused after a particular break time. Also, it increases kids’ memory which assists them when trying to prepare for a test. I can relate to this because whenever I have a quiz where you have to memorize things, after recess I feel a lot more prepared. Others may say that recess has nothing to do with grades increasing. However it has been scientifically proven that whenever kids have recess before a quiz they perform better. It would also be a superior representation of the school because it shows kids getting upstanding grades. Also, having time to get all kids’ energy out is important for their health. Many kids start to panic when they have a quiz. Longer recess could give them time to calm down and relax. When kids play, their heart is being exercised by beating which keeps them healthy. “Physical activity is vital for child development and helps to deter health issues,” says Global Educator Institute. Physical activity is important so it can delay and resist health issues. A common argument against this is that exercise at a young age doesn’t affect the chance of heart disease, but evidence proves that kids who exercise when they are young have an abundantly lower chance of having any kind of disease. In addition, kids are recommended to play outside everyday for at least 60 minutes. If kids are not being exercised enough than that would leave children with unhealthy hearts. Exercise is important because whenever I do not go outside or play I feel uneasy and my stamina decreases. Most children have heart disease caused by a lack of exercise. A recess longer than 15 minutes could solve that issue because it would give kids more time to exercise. This gives kids very healthy and non-diseased hearts. Wouldn’t you want to see a healthier
