Some of the specific work activities of being a registered nurse include overseeing and recording patient's behavior, delivery of consistent as well as delivery of correct and accurate reports and records. Managing care plans for patients, treating medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, burns as well as recovering post-operative patients are also mandated for registered nurses. Registered nurses will typically work in hospitals, clinics, correctional facilities, physicians offices or provide home health care services. Working in the medical field is a good decision, there will always be those in need of care, and the job prospects are limitless. I am so interested in every aspect of this field, I also believe my interest and passion will never diminish. No matter how long I work in the nursing field, it will always keep my interest. It is not routine, there is always something different, all patients are individual and will always be able to keep my interest while allowing me to learn something new. My passion for this field will do nothing but grow as will I. After all the research I have done into the pros and cons of both fields I have decided to pursue a career in nursing. From here I will research training, admission requirements and cost of this career path. I have decided on the University of Portland it is located in Portland, Oregon which is an Urban area close to my hometown. My focus of study at the university would be patient care, health care, innovation, evidence-based practice, social justice, leadership, teamwork, and aspects of nursing. Being accepted into this program has some requirements such as maintaining a 3.0-grade point average in high school. I must take my SAT’s and get a required score, and there are pre-required classes required. All the previously mentioned requirements have to …show more content…
