Registered Nurse

What is a Registered Nurse? A Registered Nurse administers medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician, provides skilled nursing care for the sick and the injured, and works toward the prevention of illness and the promotion of good health. Also, they work with a group of patients requiring similar care, such as the postsurgery floor, the children’s area (pediatrics), or the maternity section. Some specialize in operating room work. Nursing involves direct patient contact, so therefore I would have to have an introduction for my patient. My introduction would be, “Hello, my name is Davine Cleaves. To get these degrees, you have to go to a university or community college that has programs for a bachelor’s degree and an associate degree. The programs are combined with clinical practice in an affiliated hospital or health care facility. Also, all students that have graduated from an accredited nursing school must pass a national licensing examination to obtain a nursing license. The working conditions for a Registered Nurse isn’t that bad, they are mainly on their feet most of the time, but they work in a pleasant environment. Some nurses have to work nights, weekends and holidays because some patients may require 24 hour care. I will be a Registered Nurse working for the hospital and for the public health, which means I will have to travel to private homes, schools, community centers, and other sites. I would also like to build working relationships and have a better understanding when it comes to dealing with patients, therefore I will have to communicate with my patients and make sure they are comfortable. One of the quotes I will have to use to keep me going throughout the day will probably be by “Affinity Strategies”, “Sometimes I inspire my patients; more often they inspire me.” “As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves.” Another quote I would like to use would be by “Mahatma Gandhi”, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” I believe these particular quotes will help me in the long run if I have any stress or doubts of giving up the. Also, I would like to begin by talking about the disadvantages and advantages of being a Registered Nurse. The disadvantages would be exposure to germs and viruses, losing patients, difficult patients, long shifts, and emotional strain, but the advantages would be advancement opportunities, helping people, travel opportunities, good salary, and promising job
