Many immigrants come to America looking for economic opportunity, freedom, and a better life for one’s families. Democrats believe immigration is not just a problem to be solved, it is a defining aspect of the American character and our shared history. Republican president, Donald Trump, uses derogatory language and offensive comments towards immigrants and other communities, and it represents how the republican party feels about immigration. Although democrats and republicans want to enforce immigration laws, both parties feel different on how to go about it. The republican party believes that amnesty towards those who have broke immigration laws only encourages future immigrants to enter the country illegally rather than legally. Republicans also believe in in the 3-year, 10-year, which often forces immigrants into the heartbreaking dilemma of either pursuing a green card by leaving the country and their loved ones behind, or remaining in the shadows. Democrats prioritize those who pose a threat to the safety of the community, not hardworking families who are contributing to one’s communities.
