Media can bring people together. My inspiration for this piece of media I created comes from my previous paper where I analyzed American Eagle's #WeAllCan commercial. The original inspiration executed an effective way to sell a brand of casual clothes by using well-known celebrities in a stereotypical way while they said powerful "I can" statements to appeal to the pathos of a target audience of millennials. The purpose of my edited Snapchat story is to parody the American Eagle commercial, but instead appeal to an audience of college students by using a relatable cast and significant "I can" statements.

I face stereotypes as a women in the Psychology field. Many believe that majoring in Psychology is a women-centered career that will not make as much money or be as rewarding as a male engineer. In high school, I was told that as a Hispanic woman I would have a lower chance of getting into college and sticking with it. I wanted to represent that hispanic woman who has heard the same and feels she has to succumb to the stereotype. Likewise, I have accumulated hours for the amount of time I've decided to focus on school instead of sleep. College is a stressful part of someone's life but with my edited Snapchat story I aimed at giving a break with a piece of entertainment. I decided not to add background music to my edited story because I felt it would take away the feel of an actual Snapchat story which are usually home made clips without background music. I also faced the dilemma of choosing the race of the cast. Many would say that I am not being inclusive by not casting a white woman or man, but I believe that many minorities do not have the same opportunity in the media in a white dominated culture.
