2. Robert Burns became a very popular figure in the early years of Romanticism. Explain what some “Romantic” reasons for Burns’ popularity might be. For example, is there a particular reason that Wordsworth was an admirer of Burns? Cite from Burns’ poetry to justify and explain the argument.

Robert Burns wrote poetry in Scotland and is known as a proto-Romantic poet. He began writing more about the “common man” and the life of everyday people, rather than kings, queens, and aristocrats. In addition to writing about the common man, he also wrote about nature and its connection to the world, both of these are very Romantic ideology. These ideas become the foundation on which the Romantic era is formed.
