Throughout the play I got the impression that she always wanted what she thought was best for her daughter even though Juliet might not have seen it this way. She is very loyal to her family, and I understand why she wouldn’t trust Benvolio and wanted Romeo dead in scene I. In act III she only has two appearances in the scenes we chose, one in scene I and the other in scene V. In scene I she is very upset about Tybalt’s death and she vehemenously wants Romeo dead. She is not onstage in scenes II or III but makes an appearance in scenes IV and V. In scene IV, which we are not performing, she is talking to Lord Capulet and Paris. They’re discussing Juliet and Paris’ marriage and I think Lady Capulet is feeling she is doing what is best for her daughter. She genuinely likes Paris and wants him to marry her daughter to carry on their family lineage. In the final scene she is angry with Juliet for refusing the offer and denying their family. When Lord Capulet goes a bit crazy after finding this news out she feels worried about his violent anger and tries to calm him
