Juliet Capulet, the romantic heroine in William Shakespeare's classic work, Romeo and Juliet, is not just the love interest of Romeo Montague, but is also able to be characterized as impulsive, naive, and clingy. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Juliet herself says lines that make her seem impulsive, naive and even what some would call clingy. In Act 2, Juliet says, "Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn by my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet" (2.2.36). This line, said by Juliet herself, validates that she is impulsive in nature because at 13 years of age, one should not be willing to give up all family identity for a boy she had met in the last hour. She does not think, but instead acts on impulse. Furthermore, Juliet says in Act 2, "And follow thee my lord throughout the world" (2.2.148). This quote supports the idea of Juliet being naive by showing that she will believe everything that is said by a man, no matter how deranged and foolish. Throughout the play, comments are made that allude to the fact that Juliet being impulsive including the following quote, " There's no trust, no faith" (3.2.86-87). This is said by the nurse in response to Juliet and her marriage. Her impulsive actions made many consequences and therefore making the Nurse less than happy. Additionally, the Nurse says, " Even so lies she,Blubb'ring and weeping, weeping and blubbering" (3.3.86-87). This shows just how clingy Juliet can be because she had only not seen Romeo for a matter of hours before she was said to have been having this breakdown. Finally, she is naive to continue to put faith in Romeo after such a short time, which is made evident by both the Friar and the Nurse.
