Contrary to popular belief, children actually learn and comprehend more when given unstructured breaks. It is proven that when given these breaks, such as recess, it allows kids to retain more information as well as clear their mind to take in new knowledge. It is also proven that unstructured play helps kids manage stress as well as become more resilient. However, many researchers and doctors believe that with just 60 minutes a day, we can eliminate obesity in children. Unquestionably, recess can play a tremendous part in the hour of play and exercise. Recess makes it more convenient so kids don’t have to go far from home and also it makes the time more fun when doing it with friends. In addition to cutting down obesity, schoolchildren are less fidgety and rambunctious when returning to class. This helps teachers with their jobs and creates a better learning environment that is more calm and quiet for students. Either way, recess improves the rates of obesity and the environment of the
