My research question is how is school to prison pipeline affecting juveniles around the United States?
Juveniles are being treated like criminals that are very young age, some as early as 5-year-old all the way till they are 18 or out of school
Many of the juveniles are not graduating from middle school or high school because the schools are acting like prisons, instead of a fun learning environment
My main key terms that I have used in my research is school to prison Pipeline and racial discrimination. What is school prison pipeline? Once a child is label a criminal, it is hard for them to find a school that will take them in and give them the education they need.
Schools contract in police officers to patrol the schools, they are known as school resource officers or SRO. They discipline the juveniles instead of the teachers or principals, the SRO’s a ticket, a fine, or being arrested and sent to juvenile detention centers for a minor offense.
Methodology my primary sources were documentary on school to Prison Pipeline and how the juveniles are being affect in their daily life. I used documentaries from PBS and frist coast forum. I collected data from the United States Department of Education of civil rights to see how many students were being affected.
My secondary sources were Google search google scholarly and Dominguez Hills database journals such as JSTOR and Sage
