The School-to-Prison Pipeline is an alarming trend in the modern US education system. This phenomenon refers to the trend of students, particularly those from marginalized communities, being funneled out of public schools and into the criminal justice system. Zero-tolerance policies and the presence of law enforcement in schools contribute to this pipeline, often criminalizing minor infractions that would previously have been handled by school administrators. These measures have been shown to disproportionately affect students of color, those with disabilities, and those from low-income backgrounds, perpetuating cycles of disadvantage and incarceration.
