Schools should start later because students need more sleep. Pediatrics recommend 8-9 hours of sleep for teens. Article 2 states “Teens cannot fall asleep until around 11 pm”. This is because their bodies cannot produce melatonin.” This means that teens need more time to get a good night's rest before school. Article 1 also states “59 percent of middle schoolers and 87 percent of high schoolers get less than the recommended 8 12 to 9 12 hours of sleep.” This article supports my claim that school should start later. As you can see, most teenagers don’t get the sleep they need for school. If we stay at the time we have now, teens will come to school drowsy and out of it. If the start time of schools is pushed back, students will have an overall better life. Article 1 states “Teens who get more sleep have a better quality of life”. As you can see, most teenagers that sleep more have a better life. Article 2 states that “Athletes have fewer sports-related injuries and car accident rates drop.” This article supports my claim that schools should start later. If the schools start later, students will have a better quality of life and less injuries will occur. That is why I think schools should start
