But filing a complaint is a long process which can take years to be resolved, that is if your complaint is even open for investigation. More needs to be done, because in a world where Brock Turner can go free after just three short months in jail, others wonder what more can be done about sexuall assault. It is absolutely atrocious to see when the blame of sexual assault falls on the victim, and institutions as well as law enforcement fail to serve adequate justice. In order to give a weapon against sexual assault, it would be ideal for all colleges to hold sexual assault education workshops. This would allow students to break the common myths about sexual assault. Students who attend these type of workshops will benefit from receiving the knowledge to feel confident in their ability to deal with an attacker. While there is vast room for improvement in rape culture across the United States, colleges can begin by connecting survivors, activists and organizations, as well as implementing rape culture workshops not only for students but also for staff.
