I myself have learned that if you want to get ahead in life you must have an education to back you up. It is difficult to survive making minimum wage. While I know that working in a McDonalds, or Burger King is an honest job; it is not something I want for myself, because that will not give me the opportunity to also contribute to my family’s well-being. My family is very meaningful to me, I want to be able to provide them with a better life. Although my community is well kept, and the houses are painted and maintained up to date; a few blocks away you see the opposite, basically the other side of the coin. We were down by 1 when I came up to the batter’s box. I was sweating, feeling the sun hit my skin, the pitcher wound up, I clenched my bat and got prepared, it was coming fast, and this was my first at bat in high school. I was uneasy and feeling the weight; the crowd went completely silent and then a loud cheer busted out of the crowd. The ball traveled passed the second baseman, passed the outfielder and into deep centerfield. I ran past first base and into second I slid. My teammate Jesse, who was situated at 1st base made it all the way home. This leveled the playing field, the game was now interesting we got the confidence that was desperately needed. While the other team did come out victorious, I never lost faith and I felt that we had accomplished
