In my experience, parents don’t often let their children go until their late teens or well after. The question probably lingers on a parents’ mind from the moment of birth until their child turns thirteen. The answer to that question is something parents struggle with. The answers to both these questions can be subjective and will also differ significantly between children of even the same household. This makes it incredibly hard to set a rule age for when children are allowed to date. According to Michigan law, the age of consent is sixteen. This means that a person aged sixteen and over can have sexual intercourse with another person over the age of sixteen without the parents’ consent, even if the other person is over eighteen.
