Personally, a later start to a school day can actually help students ace subjects and things like reduced tardies, or better attendance in my opinion. In the article ''Should the School Day Start Later?'', it discusses how fewer hours of sleep can lead to obesity, migraines, and immune system disruptions. What their saying is that sleep is beneficial to a child's health and without it, improving grades or reduced class naps may be hard to overcome.
Better yet, a new start to a new school day might even have a positive effect on improving teenager's self awareness. Sure someone's plans can get in the way of ones studies, however, this doesn't prove that this distracts the students at all. Not only that, but some believe that this can cause many students, typically teens, to start taking advantage of this and start staying up later than usual.
