Some people argue women are held to double standards in the eyes of the criminal justice system because the offenders are not deprived of their freedom for inflicting malicious pains towards them. For instance, in a criminal case in the state of Texas, the court’s system dropped a man’s charges for shooting a woman. The judge had no choice but to acquit the charges based on a unique law in the state, in which allows an individual to use deadly use of force against on someone stealing their property. The social disorganization theory consists of five zones: the businesses, transition, working class, middle class, and suburbs (pg. 235). The transition zone is where most of the poor communities are located and suffer from the business industry to take over their area. The offender might have been aware of the victim’s situation and took advantage of it. Based on the reports, one can infer that the victim’s house was in the suburb zone or middle-class zone because there were no neighbors reporting to the police of a possible burglary. In the United States, marijuana is condemned illegal in the federal law even though some states have allowed to use marijuana as medical or recreational use. However, tobacco is a legal substance in the market even though tobacco is the leading cause of more deaths in the country. On the other hand, in the year two thousand thirteen, the city of Amsterdam has ban use of tobacco and allowed the recreational use of marijuana in restaurants. In the restaurants, individuals can smoke up to five grams of marijuana and have a comfortable meal. The city has been very liberal on drug use recently these past years but now the people are alarmed that they can not smoke tobacco. Furthermore, smoke stores are aware of potential decrease in revenue because of the ban on tobacco. These events are unimaginable to happen in the United States, since tobacco companies lobby campaigns in the government and marijuana is unlikely to receive acceptance in the federal
