Everyday your social level changes based on where you are from your appearance,and how you dress. For many people they have been every day. I personally never cared about what i looked like so I usually hang near the bottom of the food chain. For other through their spot on the social pyramid is really important. They think that if they are at the top that they are important. To achieve this they try to always dress the best like Charlese does in the book The Skin I'm in. Our status more times than not, is defined by what we look like how we dress and where we come from.

For me as I have stated previously what I look like doesnt matter to me much so my status socially is low. Though i have noticed that on a few occasions for example homecoming that when I get all dressed up more people are likely to talk to than normal. At times like these my status changes and goes up. Thus, I become more “popular”.After a few weeks though, my social status goes back down because I go back to doing what I normally do. Aside for status in my life there is also status in relation to the world.
Statu sis very important to the world in general. Your status could decide where you go in life. An example of this is with African Americans. It is pretty widely known that they are at the bottom of the social hierarchy pyramid. The rest of the world sees most Blacks as lazy people who don't fend for themselves. Because of this they tend not to get jobs because of this stereotype. But in truth African Americans are a hard working people. People like my mother try and break past this box that the world puts Blacks in. Most of us realize that the only way out is by getting a scholarship.
