Social Surroundings: Effects on Exercise and Diet Without even realizing it, our social surroundings influence almost everything that we do. From how we act to what we wear, our social environment shapes us into the people we are or will become. The environment, the people we are with, and the culture we are raised in affect us positively and negatively. It affects our behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, and determinations. The influence others play in our lives is substantial in our mental and physical health, as it can play a huge role in our exercise and eating habits.
