Son of David Assignment
1. Matthew 12:23- “All the people were astonished and said, ‘Could this be the Son of David?’” This verse is referring to the people talking about Jesus. The promised Messiah was to be a “son of David” and a decedent of him in the line; Jesus was just that. In this passage, Jesus has left the grain fields and gone to the synagogue, and then He went off to be alone, when of course people followed Him. He then went on to heal a demon possessed man, and the people that were surrounding Him at this time said ‘Could this be the Son of David?’ 2. Matthew 15:22- A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” This verse is taking place after he is telling parables to the disciples. He then is approached by a woman from Canaan, who very blatantly calls Him the Son of David. She has a very firm belief and faith that Jesus is the Son of David and the Messiah. Many people at this point believed in this because He had been performing miracles and telling the people that He was the Messiah. This verse shows just how much faith this woman had in thinking He was the Son of David. 3. John 7:40-42- On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Does not Scripture say that the
