Sonography
When you meet a doctor for stomach pain, or having just learned about your pregnancy, the doctor immediately prescribes sonography, or ultrasonography, or ultrasound. All these three medical terminologies are one and the same and used interchangeably. So what type of diagnostic tool is sonography, and how it is different than MRI, X-ray, and CT scan? Let’s take a look.
What is Sonography?
Sonography is an imaging technology based on sound waves. In this process, a high-frequency sound wave is used to diagnose internal organs on patients. It is the most common diagnostic tool since there is absolultely no side-effects and moreover, the process is painless. Even there is less or no prior-preparaton required to go for sonography. Most importantly, it is the most economical test compared to all the other tests.

Sonography is the safest diagnostic procedure that is based on high-frequency sound wave. This sound wave is more than 20 hertz due to which we are not able to hear it. But the images of internal organs can be viewed on a screen that is connected with the ultrasound machine. As this is no x-ray or radiation involved in this testing, it is absoluty safe for pregrant women to undergo sonography.

When sonography is used?
Sonography or ultrasound is a common diagnosis procedure in which sound wave is used to diagnose all the parts of body organs. Mostly, it is used to determine the right time of pregrancy, check the health of the foetus, and to determine sex of foetus.
