Islam is the religion of Muslims, a monotheistic faith that believes in the oneness of Allah revealed through the Prophet of Allah Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him. Islam is a famous religion and it is spread across the world for many reasons, one of them being the predominance of its history. It is proved in many historical books that Islam has had a strong impact on many countries in the past. Some of these countries being the Non-Arabic African countries. Islam reached the African continent through stages. This research will cover two of the stages of how Islam reached Africa. During that time Hijra took place, where Prophet Muhammad’s colleagues and relatives migrated to Ethiopia, previously known as Al-Habasha or Abyssinia. Al Hijra transpired due to the mischievous Quraishiytes who disturbed Muslims in Makkah. Muslims wanted to get rid of such bothersome, and be able to peacefully practice their religion and religious rituals without any interruptions. Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him thought of a solution for the problems Muslims were facing in Makkah with the unbelievers. The Prophet’s solution was to have the Muslims migrate to Ethiopia. Prophet Muhammad said that in Ethiopia Muslims would find a king that is just, that king being King Al-Najashi. Back then Ethiopia was known for its freedom from persecution and manumission from distress. The Ethiopian Emperor welcomed Prophet Muahhamd’s acquaintances and relatives, with open arms, and provided them with sanctuary. Hijra or the migration to Ethiopia commemorated the birth of freedom of expression and beliefs. As it also laid down a base for Islam. It helped Muslims shift from weakness to strength, as from discrimination to unity and brotherhood. It was a great base that significantly helped
