It has been said that Students take as many as 20 standardized assessments annually.The reason behind children taking Standardized assessments include; tracking their academic growth, deciding on the fact that children should transition from one grade to the next, determine if a teacher is efficiently teaching their class, and the grading of an school as a whole. Children learn to cross out questions that show signs of the answer not being correct. Consequently there are so many testing strategies taught because teachers know that there is no way students know all the information that is tested on these standardized test. Standardized test don’t give children the ability to learn differently, due to the questions being based off of textbook criteria. These tests are always being altered, on the other hand it could be because they are too hard or they are the opposite, to easy, but if they are constantly being changed then they were never efficiently made. “Test items answered correctly by 80 percent or more of the test takers, therefore, usually don't make it past the final cut when a standardized achievement test is first developed, and such items will most likely be jettisoned when the test is revised. As a result, the vast majority of the items on standardized achievement tests are "middle difficulty" items.” Says Professor W. James Popham.
