They are irritable, cranky, and always tired. “Lack in sleep can cause teens to have aggressive and inappropriate behavior towards their friends and family” (Sohn). This shows that a main factor in teens moods are because of lack of sleep. If students are angry and tired, they might not be able to learn and work at their fullest abilities. “Sleep is very important because it gives our bodies time to recover from stress” (Sohn). Stress occurs especially in teens. It may worsen if they do not get enough sleep. For most schools, school starts between 7:00am and 7:50am. Having a start time as 8:30am or 9:00am would be a more convenient time for teenagers which could increase teen moods and emotions. High schools should start later because it will benefit the health, grades, and mood of teenagers all around the country.
