Steve Jobs Research Paper

For my report I chose Steve Jobs. He was born to an unmarried college couple and he never finished college yet he changed the world. His companies are still here today. for example Apple, Pixar, and NeXT. They are all still in business. His motto was to think different. He put posters of famous inventors around cities and the top of them it read, “think different”.

Steve Jobs was born February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California. Steve Jobs was born to an unmarried couple who were college students. They put him up for adoption. He was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Three years after Steve was born, the Job’s adopted a little girl named Patti. The family lived in Mountain View, California. The kit was made by Hewlett Packard, a big company in Silicon Valley. Hewlett Packard made parts of computers. Steve called the company to complain. By the time they got off of the phone, Hewlett had offered Steve a summer job and promised him a bag full of machine parts. Steve joined Hewlett Packard explorer club. It offered lectures to kids interested in electronics. At one lecture, Steve saw a computer for the first time and he also met Steve Wozniak. Wozniak had an amazing talent for making things.

When Steve graduated from high school in 1972 he wanted to go to Reed College in Oregon but he couldn’t afford it. So Steve went to the Dean of Reed College and asked if he could live in the dorms and sit in the classes for free. He wouldn’t ever get a degree but he could learn about subjects he liked. The Dean agreed because he was impressed by Steve. A week later he was taking classes at Reed College. He took a job at Atari, his friend Steve Wozniak was already working there. He made a new company named NeXT. The company was doing horrible, they lost $10 million dollars in three years. A few weeks later he met his biological sister. They became close. While he was giving a lecture at Stanford University in the audience there was his future wife, Laurene Powell. She was studying business and they both didn’t eat meat. They exchanged phone numbers. A year later they were married in Yosemite National Park. in 1991 they had their first child, Reed Hall Jobs.

Since NeXT was doing so bad, Steve made another company. It was called PIXAR. It used computer animations. PIXAR was doing really bad, he had to use $50 million dollars of his own money to keep it going. By 1991 Steve had laid off most of PIXAR’s staff. Steve had made a deal with DIsney to give them money to make 3 full length movies, They agreed. By 1993, he had laid off most of the works at NeXT. In 1995 PIXAR made a movie called Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, and Monsters, Inc. Meanwhile John Scully had been force out of Apple by the board. Apple needed Steve back, so he came
