According to ASPCA an animal is abused every 10 seconds. Almost every person would say no, that is not possible, but many people are not aware that they have participated in some sort of animal abuse at some point in their life. Thousands of companies undergo torture on animals for makeup products, cleaning supplies, and medicines. Many people are aware of what abuse is, but too many people think that retweeting a tweet on twitter will end all animal abuse. They need to realize that that is not enough. Three ways to help stop animal abuse is to spread the word of what it is and how to detect it in a situation with other people, support companies who are against animal abuse, and volunteer to help animals that were rescued from their previous home in search of a better one. The first step to helping stop animal abuse is to teach everyone how to identify it in a scenario. People must learn that physical harm is not the only type of animal abuse. Some examples of animal abuse are emotional abuse, physical abuse, animal neglect, and animal hoarding (Arkow, 2015, p. 353). People need to stop identifying it and thinking someone else will fix it, but instead fix it themselves. Many animal shelters are in need of more volunteers to help the animals so it would be best to find a local shelter and see if any animals need help right away. Arizona Humane Society Sunnyslope Campus, Pee Wee's Pals Animal Rescue, and Sun Valley Animal Shelter are all local animal shelters by GCU in need of more volunteers. Another alternative, as listed above, would be to foster an animal that was rescued until it has been helped and neutered to the point where it can live a normal life and not be so dependent on its
