Completing the Strengths Finder Assessment by Don Clifton gave me a better understanding of who I am. During the assessment, I tried not to take more than 20 seconds to answer each question. However, I had trouble answering two questions and I noticed that it skipped me to the next questions. Regardless, I believe the assessment was accurate in highlighting some of my strengths. My five top personalized strengths are connectedness, relator, communication, consistency, and strategic. Connectedness is my number one strength. I truly believe that everything in life happens for a reason; therefore, whenever a person is going through a rough patch in their life, I try to comfort them by explaining the reasons why that unfortunate event might have occurred. I believe every person has a special purpose in life and life would lead us to what that purpose may be. About a couple of months ago my supervisor hired a counselor assistant that is culturally and socio economic status is different from the other members working in the Transfer Center. Everyone did not seem to accept this individual as part of our team until I talked to everyone and I explained to them that there had been a reason why our supervisor hired her. I spoke to my supervisor and she mentioned that this individual will provide a different atmosphere to the center. I tried to speak to our new member and find out how she was raised and how her personal values led her to the counseling field. After a couple of conversations, I found out that she has talents that can be useful in our center. I later spoke to my other team members and I helped them understand how important her experiences were for the growth of the center.
