Reading the Strengthens Finders book, I enjoyed reading how it centered on focusing and reinforcing an individual’s strengthens. Growing up I was always taught that to be successful in life an individual had to meet a certain criteria of skills and if and individual did not have them they had to devote long periods of time in developing them. For a long period of time I felt that I was belittling myself in focusing on my weakness that it wasn’t until entering college that I began to focus on my strengths.
My five tops strengths were Learner, Achiever, Deliberative, Self-Assurance, and Relator. After going back to the strengths finder book and reviewing each of my strengths, I felt that the strengths I was given reflect my personality and my best qualities. I believe each of my top

At the moment I am assisting a counselor teaching a Counseling 101 course at Rio Hondo College and I have started to see the impact language has on students mindset. After reviewing a victim mindset of a student focus on self-defeating thoughts and a creator mindset, in which a student focuses on possible solutions to their problems, I began to see how students focused more on their strengthens with a creator mindset. Students who were stuck in a victim mindset always focus on their limitations on not being to accomplish a task because they did not have the necessary capital to accomplish them. After reviewing each strength in the Strengths Finder book, I began to reflect on students that I have worked in the past and enjoyed that the book provided ways of working with individuals who express each strength to work best with them. Through this information I will try and become more consciousness when interact with students in the
