I am a student at Keller Middle School and I am also an athlete. I am starting to find out about the struggles of being a student-athlete and it will definitely get harder next year in high school. I could barely imagining a college student-athlete and how hard that is. I am writing to you to talk about student-athlete safety and how it will affect student-athletes.
In the NCAA you are required to have medical insurance to participate in games, practices, and workouts. But the thing is only some of the college schools cover their student-athletes who get injured but some do not. "You don't imagine paying those medical bills out of your own pocket when your child gets a scholarship."Valerie Hardrick said. That is a really big flaw in the system about wanting to use it or not. Paul Haagen stated, “Because a better system would cost a lot”. I do agree with Paul but at the same time you would rather be safe than sorry. I say this because would not you want to have a better system when you star athlete gets injured some you can get him/her back quick.
The Atlantic Monthly had stated, “after an incoming student signs a letter of intent binding him or her to a university, many schools have no contractual obligation to treat injuries or strains that result from playing for that college”.In my opinion the idea of getting a scholarship and not having your college not being able treat your injuries is not good. The idea of a scholarship is to not have to pay for expensive of college,but that changes when you get injured in the sport the college gave you a scholarship and they will not treat your
