Sugar consumption is a recurring issue in The United States, on average, we consume three times the recommended amount of sugar, too much sugar can lead to serious health conditions and diseases, Americans need to understand the effects of too much sugar and how we reduce the amount we consume.

Big companies of foods/ drinks try to hide the amount of sugar is in an item by changing the name of sugar to an unknown names like high fructose corn syrup, crystal dextrose, evaporated cane juice, and fructose sweetener. “..today most food companies hide the levels of sugar in their products to make them look healthier” (Taubes). Food and drink companies also false advertise their products by claiming them to be ‘diet’, and ‘fat reduced’. Although then do have less calories or less fat, to substitute for those they add in more sugar.
