This book was set in Boston Massachusetts in the early days of the American Revolution. Johnny Tremain is a young boy who was a silversmith's apprentice. Johnny became a very good silversmith and continued on with the trade. Silversmiths were very skilled people who made silver items for the rich because most of the poor could not afford it. Johnny was badly burned in an accident with hot silver because of a cracked crucible. This didn't stop Johnny. A couple years later in June of 1774, the Port Act was put in place.
