How have women fought for their rights? Women faced many problems, which all mainly stemmed from the fact that women didn’t have equal rights as men. They had to face constant misogyny. Some things that women were not able to do were go to college, vote, they had less pay than men for the same jobs and were beaten by their husbands if they disobeyed. This is what led to the women’s rights movement. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, one of the many women who fought hard so we could be where we are today. According to my Cornell notes, in July of 1848 Elizabeth Cady Stanton & Lucretia Motts held the Seneca Falls Convention, the very first women’s rights convention. There she and Lucretia Mott worked together to create the “Declaration of Sentiments.” According to my Cornell notes, this launched the first women’s suffrage movement in the U.S., which is why it was a big moment in history. Also while at the convention she proposed that women have the right to vote, which is stated in my Cornell notes. Another major thing Elizabeth Cady Stanton did was create the National Woman's Suffrage Association with the help of Susan B. Anthony. Anthony is also another well-known women’s rights reformer. Susan B. Anthony wasn’t allowed to speak at a Temperance Convention just because she was a woman. According to my Cornell notes, she worked with Elizabeth Cady Stanton to create “The Revolution” in 1868, a weekly publication that lobbied for women’s rights. Later, the two worked together again to create the NWSA. One thing Susan B. Anthony was well known for is in 1872 she voted illegally in the presidential election where she got fined but she never paid the fine, which is stated in my Cornell
