Grammar and spelling are still very vital to our children success and should continue to be taught in grade school classrooms. I agree with the English teacher, Laura Deighton in the "Teaching Spelling and Grammar Is Still Vital in a Technology-Driven Classroom." that our children cannot grow up learning to depend on technology to auto correct their grammar mistake. Technology is a great tool for them to have access to but there are many children who don’t have access to computers at all or have minimal experience. I have some students in my class right now who barely understands how to use the computer and they have parents at home with no computer knowledge at all. What will they do as adults needing to write an important essay for college or fill out a job application by hand and don’t know how to spell or write a logical detailed statement. Proper spelling and grammar skills play a major role in both scenarios. Although technology is growing rapidly it is still vital to have proper grammar and knowledge skills.
