Teen Activists Make A Stand To Child Labor Introduction “ The new estimates are a wake-up call. We cannot stand by while a new generation of children is put at risk”. Craig Kielburger This quote promotes the activists trying to stop child labor. Therefore child labor is considered prison/torture for kids who work their butts to get only little money and not a lot of safety. Teens are making a difference in the area of child labor, including calahumana and iqbal.Child labor is getting seriously out of hand and nobody is doing anything to stop it. is what a person who’s keeping the kids working would say. From age 5 ranging all the way to 17 they are working in very dangerous jobs like factories, mines etc. In 2008, there were 60 children found dead after working in dangerous jobs. For example, in 2020, the world marked a rise in child labor for the first time in two decades. An estimated 160 million children were involved in child labor around the world at the beginning of 2020. By the end of 2022, 9 million additional young people could be pushed into child labor because of the pandemic, the report says. About half of the children were involved in very cautious/dangerous work like mining and farm work, which directly endangered their health and safety. The new estimates are a wake up call. Because of child labor, kids get a lack of knowledge, sleep, and much more and families can’t even do anything they have to let them go to work for their families. Until one fateful morning he got shot by an on passing car to this day people still remember him and thank him for what he has done to the child labor problem. Another great teen activist is Craig Kielburger. Craig Kielburger was a 12 year old boy making a stand for child labor. He was a very inspiring person to many people because he would talk about what child labor has been doing to these young and tortured children. He didn’t have any problems when speaking ( even if people rudely interrupted him he didn’t mind). Personal Reflection: I chose this topic because I like to see what teen activists can do about child labor. I feel like these kids deserve a better life to start with. It inspired/changed me because maybe I could even make a stand one time. If I was a teen activist I would definitely help out the child labor community and make the child labor laws better for the environment. I feel like the child labor activists will get a bunch of hate, but do I think that they’re going to care, I don’t think so.
