The goal of teen court is to provide an alternative to the traditional juvenile justice system, giving young people a chance to take responsibility for their actions and make amends without acquiring a criminal record.

Cases that come before teen court typically involve minor offenses committed by teenagers, such as vandalism, theft, underage drinking, or drug possession. These cases are referred to teen courts by law enforcement, schools, or other community agencies.
