The Admirable Admiration and adultery don’t generally walk hand in hand. However, with John Proctor and Hester Prynne can be admired for the people they have become after they had committed adultery. Internal emotional struggles, external struggles, and how people viewed them afterwards are all things that Hester and John went with through after they committed the crime. In the end, they were able to redeem themselves from their sin. Hester Prynne’s sin of adultery impacted her greatly emotional wise. The weight of what she had done had transformed her into a total different person. She felt lost her inner grace she once had, was constantly sad, and felt guilty for what she has done. “…in a thousand otherways, did she feel the innumerable throbs of anguish…” (Hawthorn 71) Every single day she felt that anguish inside of herself. Her clothing style completely changed because of how she felt. With the change of her clothing, her inner grace left as well. Hester started to wear the same outfit every single day: drab, gray clothes and her hair up hidden under a cap. Clearly she is a very strong person in order to have lived with that anguish and pain every single day.
