The evolution of dolphins began well back in time with an animal known as a pakicetidae. Over a long period of time pakicetidae evolved and breeded with other animals in the category of cetaceans. As we can see their bodies came more susceptible to water over time. This lead us to discover animals in our history including the protocetidae and the mysticeti. So how was the dolphin created from these animals? Over time a trend was found the from breeding and habitats, that they started spending more time in the water as well as that they were breeding with more and more animals that spent a large amount of time in the water and were also identified to be cetaceans. And what is its impact on us? The bottlenose dolphin can be found in most tropical destinations such as cuba, the dominican, mexico and more. Kept in an open cage in the water and away from its natural habitat, this mammal is tasked to amuse tourists, be obedient, and maintain its role in the environment. What we don’t know is that these zoo dolphins are heavily abused and trained in these zoos. According to SeaWorld more than 300 dolphins have been killed due to the captivity, and abuse from these zoos. In addition, another disadvantage includes that with having these mammals in the zoo, it limits their breeding. In some cases these mammals in zoos are forced to mate with other mammals in order to reproduce, this is illegal and is still happening in places such as California {Seaworld, 2013}. On the brighter side, dolphins are one of the main sources of income that places such as these zoo’s get. Who doesn't want to play and see dolphins? This financially is good for the zoo’s. To add on, keeping the bottlenose dolphins in captivity helps them hide from their prey. From this, the preys such as the killer whale has one less food source they can attack due to this.
