In the September 2015 issue of The Atlantic one of the featured articles, “The Coddling of the American Mind” written by Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt, shed light on what the authors believe to be an increasing epidemic on america's college campus’. In the article the authors discuss how there is an increasing need to protect students from microaggressions, small actions or word choices that seem to have no malicious intent but are thought of as a kind of violence nonetheless. To shelter students from microaggressions professors are now being asked to give trigger warnings.
