As stated in “Being a Man” by Paul Theroux, in which he says that the expression “Be a man!” means to be “stupid, be unfeeling, obedient, soldierly and stop thinking” (Source D). Another example would be from “Mind Over Muscle” by David Brooks, which not only statistically states that by 2015 “there will be 142 female [college] graduates for every 100 male graduates”, but also states why, being that “the educational system has been overly feminized” (Source F). Both of these articles, not only emotionally, but also logically, state how and why men have been limited in their education simply due to being men. Simply because of their gender, they are expected to be vacuous and dimwitted. Considering how important education is for people’s futures, that is quite a hard thing to deal with. Men are expected to be mediocre in school, but yet still go on to be the breadwinner in their family. Talk about a double standard.
