The purpose of the five factions is to keep peace within their society. The personality types for each faction are nurtured (Abnegation), peacemakers (Amity), protectors (Dauntless), intellectuals (Erudite) and candid (Candor). These five factions meet every basic personality type and the needs of people.
The reason behind creating the five factions was to keep peace and order in society. I believe the factions were working “toward a better society and a better world” at first, but over time they strayed away from that. The structure of Tris’s society seems to be working because they have not strayed away from their beliefs and have maintained an organized system. Their government, however, does not seem to be working because other factions

I also think that I would have chosen Amity or Erudite because I would like to be in a peaceful and happier place and I like to learn new things. I would have felt stressed and pressured if I had to make a choice that would determine the rest of my life.
The choices I have made so far in life are who my friends are, classes I want to take, and the sports I play. In the future, I will have to decide where I want to attend college and what I want to do for a living. These choices might change how I view life and whether I will regret my choices or be happy with them.

Tris describes this as worse than death. You become factionless when you fail to complete the initiation.
I agree with Tris’s statement about Candor. It is braver to be Candor than the dauntless because in cases where it is tough to admit some things they still do it. I could not be Candor.
It is brave for her to crave victory because she wants to prove to herself and others that she has made the right choice and is more than a “stiff”. I do not think they had the right to be jealous because when she was not doing well they did not have a problem and were encouraging her in tough times, but, I would eventually forgive them because I would not like to hold a grudge over something so small and would not matter in the end.
During initiation Tris became stronger and realized who she is. I do believe she made the right faction choice because if she did not she would not have become confident, stronger, and happier.
To be fearless is to lack fear and when you control your fears you are able to do things even in a frightening time. I do not think anyone could truly be fearless. When Tris says, “half of bravery is perspective” she means that when people choose to be brave depends on how they view a
