The concept of selective attention focus on how the adequate amount of sleep affects your memory. In agreement with Bjorn Rasch and Jan Vorn (Soomo Learning, 2017), when we are awake, we encode memories, and when we are sleep, we consolidate them into long- term memories. Sleep- enhances memories which are essential to adapting to environmental and life changes. In order, to properly receive information and learn we must sleep to retain the information.

It is proven that the spacing effect helps better retrieve and store information to your long- term memory. An example of the spacing effect is, studying for test three hours a day for three days and not studying for four. According to John Dunlosky, "More than 100 years of research has yielded several hundred experiments showing that practice testing enhances learning and retention (UCLA Bjork Learning & Forgetting Lab)."
