The Mexican-American Family

I was born into a traditional, working class Mexican-American family, which is a collectivistic culture. For example, one of the characteristics of the Mexican and Hispanic culture, is that family is crucial and sometimes come first before anything else. As a result, my family is very traditional and close to each other. Unfortunately, life is not perfect and there are events that seem disastrous at first, but then one realizes that these events only makes one stronger. Growing up and to this day my mother has been an example of being able to thrive when tough circumstances arise.
