The O.J. Simpson Case was known as the first case/trial to air on a trial on live television in a courtroom. Orenthal Simpson was a running back who played for the Buffalo Bills in 1969. On June 13 1944, Nicole Brown Simpson(ex-wife of O.J. Simpson) and her friend Ronald Goldman was found dead outside of O.J. Simpson’s house which made people to assume it was Orenthal(O.J.). Once the news had flooded the streets, tensions between African Americans and Americans had begun. African Americans started to assume, “Here is another black citizen getting accused of something that is unfairly”(Zorthian 3), while Americans believed, “He killed Nicole Brown and just getting bailed out”(Zorthian 3). Simpson definitely caused tensions between African Americans and Americans. In the article by Julia Zorthian, “How the O.J. Simpson Verdict Changed the way We All Watch TV”, Zorthian explains how others feel about the trial as well as the amount of people watching the trial impact News outlets. Zorthian states, “Many thought this was an example of another black man who had been unfairly prosecuted, while others faulted the predominantly black jury for letting him off”(Zorthian 3). This quote explains Many which meant African Americans thought this was a black man who was just getting in trouble for something he is accused while the Americans thought Simpson had actually murdered Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman and was just getting let off. In article, “How the O.J. Simpson Verdict Changed the way We All Watch TV”, Zorthian also states, “As soon the Verdict had ended, the split screen had shown one side that was jubilat while the other was just in dismay”(Zorthian 3). This shows that African Americans were just relieved that black man was not someone who committed crime while Americans was disappointed and shocked knowing the verdict was that O.J. Simpson was found guilty. In the article by Tatiana Morales, “O.J.’s Trial and Its Impact.”, Morales explains certain impacts that the trial impact had brought such as other race views on the trial. Morales states a quote from a white man who said, “They should change it from the trial to shame of the century”(Morales 2). Another quote that Morales states in the article is from a black woman response to the jurors decision, “Justice had prevailed, Now they can find the real killer”(Morales 2).
