The narrator of The Outsider tells how reliable he is in the text by saying how he has never seen himself, spoken, heard a human voice or thinks he’s human because in the book on page 22 it says “I must have lived years in this place, but I do not recall any person except myself; or anything alive but the noiseless rats and bats and spiders.” The narrator is trying to say that he has never experienced what it’s like to be in the outside world because he was trapped in this place for years and he doesn’t know what it’s like to live in a better surrounding.
