History class in high school, and told me that she wanted to hold on to this book for a week to show her co-workers how I had coped with my ADD in my educational career; she was fascinated by my color-coded, highlighted, and noted summer reading that I would have to write an essay on later in the semester. As a result of these circumstances, I believe I was born without a conscientious predisposition even though my friends and family members would now say that I have moderate to high conscientiousness because of how I have coped with my mental disability. This would allow individuals to be less likely to procrastinate in daily life; also, they will have the ability to have positive social relationships, good work ethic, and a responsibility to their peers. These advantages are important for creating lasting relationships in the school and work setting, and will be vital to social relationships as an adult.
Disadvantages that I have experienced, at the low conscientiousness level and high conscientiousness level, are my tendency for impulsive behavior and my lack of focus, as well as, my perfectionist behavior; and although I have a desire for high achievement, I expect perfection in a short time frame because of my impulsive behavior and lack of focus.
Consequently, conscientiousness is thought to be a positive trait within society’s construct; however, many individuals will vary in sub facet levels throughout the conscientiousness definition.
